Project Overview

With the release of the mobile app in the end of 2020, I was assigned a task to reinvigorate the old dashboard. The primary purpose of catch connect is to sell phone plan deals that are great value for money, however due to the dashboard being incredibly difficult to use there was an issue of retention. A number of customers never recharged their plans due to the difficulty of the dashboard. This issue was identified by the number of complaints to the call centre.

Execution

Brief

According to customer complaints the previous dashboard was quite difficult to navigate and understand, especially for older customers. The brief I received was to restructure the information presented on the web app and redesign it in a manner similar to the IOS & android app.

Hotjar & google analytics

Using hotjar and reading into Google Analytics data, I was able to identify which pieces of information were important and which pages had the most user traffic and prioritise them in the redesign.

Digital wireframe & information architecture

Creating an information architecture (IA) for the dashboard before starting to wireframe was important so that the team could all be on the same page, and agree on where all content should sit. Once this was completed I created new wireframes using the information that was gathered in the research phase as well as using our new (IA) as a base for my later design decisions.

Hi-Fi design

I Categorised the features into a few key widgets on the dashboard and improve each widget by applying the best UX practices to the designs.

Results

  • Retention increased by 110%.
  • Increased usage on the web app.
  • Improved usability.
  • A significant drop in receiving complaints in the call centre.
